Judge Paula Xinis proposed a 48-hour hold on deporting Abrego Garcia from the United States again, but the government refused to agree to those terms.

The development came after a Justice Department attorney told a Judge Xinis that the government's "plan at this stage" is to deport Abrego Garcia to a third country if he is released on bond by a judge in Tennessee, where he is facing human smuggling charges.

Throughout Monday’s hearing, lawyers for the administration repeatedly refused to provide answers to some very straightforward questions.
