Nick Lodolo and four relievers combined on a four-hit shutout Thursday for the host Cincinnati Reds, who salvaged a split of a four-game series with the Miami Marlins by earning a 6-0 win.
De La Cruz became the second primary shortstop in Reds history with 100 hits before the All-Star break and joined National Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin in that feat, according to team officials. Larkin accomplished the feat in 1989 with 107 hits and again in 1993 with 109 hits.

Andrew Abbott pitched seven innings of shutout ball a day after being named an All-Star, Elly De La Cruz hit a pair of RBI doubles and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Marlins 7-2, snapping Miami’s franchise-record 11-game road winning streak.
Abbott served as a stopper and everything else the Reds needed in order to halt their four-game losing skid. Abbott, who was confirmed as an MLB All-Star Game participant on Tuesday, July 8, threw seven and 2/3 innings of six-hit, one-run baseball against the Marlins Wednesday, July 9, and the Reds won, 7-2, at Great American Ball Park.
At least they got another All-Star selection out of the evening, when MLB announced that left-hander Andrew Abbott joins teammate Elly De La Cruz on the National League squad next week as a replacement for Dodgers pitcher Yosh Yamamoto.
