Communities in rural Vermont face damaged homes and washed-out roads after heavy rainfall caused flash flooding.

Of particular concern was the east branch of the Passumpsic River at East Haven, which, starting around 3 p.m., rose over 4.5 feet in about two hours. By 5:30 p.m., levels began to recede.

While communities in eastern New York and most of Vermont are highlighted for the greatest risk of localized flash flooding, here are a couple regions in particular that may be most impacted by today's severe weather threat.
