Warner Bros. Discovery has settled on a date to reskin the Max streamer back to HBO Max: Early this Wednesday morning, according to streamer insiders. The flip won’t happen simultaneously, but customers will see “HBO Max” on the apps that formerly said “Max” across the streamer’s territories on July 9.
As of Wednesday, HBO Max is no longer Max and is back to being HBO Max, just on the Max platform. We know, it’s confusing. Either way, it appears that X (fka Twitter) is not playing ball with all of this back and forth — or at any rate, it has not played ball yet .
As the nation reels in all the sudden, horrible change of this grim moment, it feels increasingly impossible to ever go back—to somehow reverse entropy’s course and return to the relative Eden of a simpler, more sensible time. Like, say, May of 2020, when the streaming service HBO Max launched.
Max complained that X, formerly known as Twitter, is not letting it switch back to its original HBO Max moniker.
