CHICAGO — The Kansas City Royals plan to call up 45-year-old pitcher Rich Hill from the minors for a start against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, marking the left-hander's 21st season in the majors. Hill has been at Triple-A Omaha after joining the Royals as part of an offseason trade. He is 4-4 with a 5.36 ERA in nine starts at Omaha.
The Kansas City Royals are fighting to stay alive in the playoff mix after making it to October last season and are now reportedly willing to trade assets.
Friday night’s game at Kauffman will be broadcast on Apple TV+ and Saturday’s contest will air on Fox 4 as part of the network’s weekly national game. The other game Fox will show nationally on Saturday will be the Dodgers at Red Sox.
