India, May 23 -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, currently on a four-day official visit to India, has extended an invitation from President Donald Trump to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a future visit to the White House.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said India-US ties are growing stronger and highlighted the close personal relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump as a key factor in deepening bilateral cooperation.
Mr Modi has not fielded a question at a solo press conference in India since becoming prime minister in 2014. He has been repeatedly questioned about the erosion of press freedom and human rights during his four-nation European tour, which started with a two-day visit to the Netherlands on Saturday.
"The India-US relationship is at the cornerstone of Washington’s approach to the Indo-Pacific," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
