Katariina Kosola's goal gave Finland a 1-0 win over 10-woman Iceland in the opening match of the Women's European Championship on Wednesday, giving the Finns the perfect start in Group A which also contains hosts Switzerland and Norway.

Signe Gaupset has become the youngest player to score twice in a Women's Euro, leading Norway to a 4-3 win over Iceland.

Switzerland, the EURO 2025 host, needed only a draw to advance, and finished second in Group A behind Norway to enter the knockout rounds for the first time.
