NEW YORK — Moving Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base doesn’t just disrupt DJ LeMahieu’s playing time routine. It effectively makes him a bench bat and nothing more moving forward for the Yankees. Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed on Tuesday afternoon that there are no plans for LeMahieu to play third base.
LeMahieu was clogging up second base in New York, which needed to be opened up for Jazz Chisholm Jr. to return to his natural position. The Yankees didn't think LeMahieu could handle third, so they cut him loose and ate the last $22 million on his contract.
