Houston center fielder Jake Meyers was removed from Wednesday night’s game against Cleveland after he appeared to be injured during pregame warmups.
While Smith became a breakout star during spring training because of his offensive power, he's still a rookie. He's exceeded expectations not only because of his mindset but also because the Astros promote a mentality where veterans want the younger players to succeed.
Jake Meyers is breaking out in 2025—at the plate and in the field. Once seen as a glove-first placeholder, he’s now one of the Astros’ most consistent bats and a leader in an outfield full of transitions.
Meyers was removed from Wednesday's game against the Guardians with an apparent leg injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
After sweeping the Dodgers, the Astros found themselves swept by a Guardians squad that had lost 10 straight games entering the series.
