Three-time NBA champion player and Phoenix Suns executive James Jones has been appointed as the new executive vice president and head of basketball operations for the NBA, the league announced Wednesday.

The NBA legend was spotted at the Cavaliers’ practice facility in a photo posted online alongside Cleveland summer league invite Denver Jones on Friday. Despite trade rumors swirling around him, James shut down any notion that him being in his hometown was anything other than his usual offseason activity.

Among the annual duties for Yale men’s basketball coach James Jones and his staff, of course, is to build a schedule. The Ivy League takes care of the bulk, and it isn’t hard to sprinkle in some low-level Division I opponents.
