Superman, David Corenswet
Digest more
David Corenswet is the latest actor to fill the Man of Steel's trunks. The "Superman" star goes deep on his caring nature, fatherhood and cereal.
The actor, who lives with his family in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Philadelphia, far from the glamour of Hollywood, knows that after this project it will be difficult to shake off the superhero label.
David Corenswet joins the DC Universe as the newest Superman. But, he hails far from Krypton or Clark Kent's adopted Smallville, Kansas home, as he actually grew up in Center City Philadelphia.
"Looking like they just escaped a boyband bootcamp and got styled by a hyper-caffeinated fashion intern — serving abs, attitude, and accidental icons."
Superman's biological family may come from Krypton, but David Corenswet, the latest actor to play the caped crusader, has family ties to the Crescent City.
Before the release of his breakout movie, Superman, the Philly-raised actor was seen walking around with some important gear. In one of his latest Instagram posts, Corenswet wore a pair of light gray dress pants and a white tank top with a sweater tied across his chest. But his bag was the true statement piece.
Philadelphia plays a major role in the new "Superman" movie, though not in terms of setting. (Sorry, the caped crusader doesn't fly by the Linc.) The region can claim several cast members, including the starring superhero.
