Out of nowhere, Netflix has confirmed Virgin River season 8 is happening, and while we’ve not seen season 7 yet, the show’s renewal suggests one key cliffhanger might now be fake.

Virgin River, with 84 episodes expected after Season 8, overtakes Elite in volume and outpaces Grace and Frankie in total hours, given its hour-long format. That time spent onscreen translates into real engagement and it’s one reason Netflix didn’t wait long to give Season 8 the green light.

The nice cost plus good ratings – the show has been in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV 30 times since the list was introduced during the show’s third season, and it’s spent 38 weeks in the Nielsen Top 10 since Season 1 – means it’s worth renewing. And that is cause for celebration.
