Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of launching 18 missiles and about 400 attack drones in a "massive" deadly attack overnight into Thursday, mostly targeting the capital, Kyiv, and the surrounding region. It lasted about 10 hours.
On June 1, using hundreds of short-range one-way attack drones smuggled deep into Russian territory, Ukraine was able to significantly damage or destroy at least 11 Russian strategic bombers as part of its Operation Spider’s Web.
Ukraine has stabilised the lines around Pokrovsk since the turn of the year. The Russian army, blocked at the entrance to the city, is attempting a pincer movement.
